MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Making their third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team lost an opening round match to Wellesley College on Friday afternoon by a final score of 5-0. The Knights finish another stellar season with a record of 13-4.
Wellesley swept the doubles points and clinched the match with wins at third and fifth singles. Junior
Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg (Newburgh, N.Y.) put up a fight in her match at first singles and had dropped the opening set, 6-2, at the conclusion of the match. Senior
Annmarie Llewellyn (Brookhaven, N.Y.) was on the board in the second set at second singles, trailing only 2-1 when the match was called.
Wellesley advances to play Bowdoin College in tomorrow's second round.
