Mount Falls to Skidmore in NCAAs

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - In their first ever NCAA appearance, the Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team lost to Skidmore College by a score of 5-0 at Williams College on Friday.  The Knights finish off a record-setting season with an overall record of 19-3.

The Thoroughbreds blitzed Mount Saint Mary in the doubles competition, claiming all three points.  Freshman Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg (Newburgh, N.Y.) and sophomore Annmarie Llewellyn (Brookhaven, N.Y.) put up a good fight at first doubles, but eventually fell, 8-2.

In singles action, Skidmore closed out the match with wins at third and fourth singles.  Matches at first and second singles were left unfinished, while the competition in the fifth and sixth slots was never started because the match was held indoors.

Nineteenth-ranked Skidmore advanced to face eleventh-ranked Tufts University in the second round.
