NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Sweeping all 11 events on Saturday, the Mount Saint Mary College women's swimming team defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 129-51. The Blue Knights improved to 10-1 in dual meets.
A trio of freshmen continued excellent rookie campaigns, each winning a pair of events. Freshman
Kassie Kayal (Wayne, N.J.) won the 200 freestyle in 2:15.82 and then cruised to a victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.49). Freshman
Brianna Perazella (Cheshire, Conn.) took home the 200 individual medley (2:25.84) and was just off record pace in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:32.94. Freshman
Jamie Testa (Prospect, Conn.) was a winner in the 50 freestyle (28.44) and the 100 butterfly (1:07.32).
Another freshman,
Megan Pierce (Moriches, N.Y.), took on the 1000 freestyle and earned first place points with a time of 13:54.12. Also winning individual events were sophomores
Sarah Pruschki (Walden, N.Y.) and
Christina Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.). Pruschki captured the 100 freestyle in 1:03.96, while Figueroa edged the field in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:14.38.

Laura Condon (Syracuse, N.Y.), freshman
Megan Whelan (Greenville, N.Y.), and freshman
Rachel Johnson (Levittown, N.Y.) kicked off the meet with a come-from-behind victory in the 200 medley relay. Their time was 2:17.52.
Closing out the meet, Perazella, Testa, Pruschki, and Kayal made a nice run at the 200 freestyle relay record, but fell a few seconds short with a time of 1:54.42.
Up next for the Blue Knights is a road trip to SUNY Cobleskill. They'll take on Cobleskill and Delhi in a meet scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25.
