NEWBURGH, N.Y. – In a dual meet on Saturday against Purchase College, both the men's and women's swimming teams captured victories in the Kaplan Center Pool. The men defeated the Panthers, 100-66, while the women took home a 105-91 victory. Both teams are 2-0 in dual meets so far this season.

On the women's side, freshman Brianna Perazella (Cheshire, Conn.) continued her assault on the Mount Saint Mary College record books. She won both of her individual events in record-setting fashion, taking the 200 individual medley in 2:23.24 and the 500 freestyle in 5:33.18.

Perazella also teamed with freshmen Kassie Kayal (Wayne, N.J.), Jamie Testa (Prospect, Conn.), and Maggie Connell (Normandy Beach, N.J.) to set a new school record in the 200 medley relay. Their time was 2:04.78.

Kayal was a dual-winner too, touching first in the 200 freestyle (2:13.73) and the 100 backstroke (1:10.79). Testa posted a first place time in the 100 butterfly (1:06.94) and was second to teammate Christina Gulotta (Howell, N.J.) in the 100 breaststroke.

On the men's side, the Blue Knights were just off the record pace in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of junior Brian Heitman (Ramsey, N.J.), junior Ryan Carroll (Goshen, N.Y.), senior Jay Matushefske (Garnerville, N.Y.), and sophomore Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.) was less than a second off the pace with a time of 1:37.15.

Naudy and Heitman were dual winners in individual events. Naudy took the 200 individual medley (2:16.83) and the 100 butterfly (56.80) while Heitman snagged the 50 freestyle (24.87) and the 100 freestyle (56.33). Matushefske was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.49) and Carroll won the 100 backstroke (58.50).

Senior Stephen Ghostlaw (New Windsor, N.Y.) and junior Anthony Celano (Brooklyn, N.Y.) duked it out in the two distance events. Ghostlaw was fastest in the 1000 freestyle (12:27.29) but Celano was victorious in the 500 freestyle (5:59.93).

Both teams will be back home next weekend to host King's College. The meet is scheduled to start at noon.
